Marye  lives on a small acreage just south of Dallas Texas with six of her eight children.  They are restoring a historic home as well as moving toward a more sustainable lifestyle. They raise Nigerian Dwarf Dairy Goats, as well as heritage breed Barred Rock chickens.   Marye believes in local food sourcing, organic living as much as is possible and supporting the local economy.  Much of her writing that is not food related is information about homesteading and sustainable living.

Since leaving the military Marye has concentrated on being a mother and homeschooling her children.  It wasn’t until 2007 that she began to write a blog to share her recipes with her adult children across the miles that separated them. The blog gained popularity and led to a book, and her popularity has grown by leaps and bounds.
